Overview

Industrial automation systems are distributed across a plant, so their power supplies must be reliable, isolated and tolerant of a varying input. A PLC rack, a field instrument or a control board needs one or more regulated rails, and isolation is often required to break ground loops and protect the electronics from the electrical noise of the plant. Mornsun power modules serve this role, and BeiLuo supplies them with genuine traceability and FAE support.

Isolated Rails in a PLC

A PLC rack contains a controller and several I/O modules, and each module often needs its own isolated supply so that a fault or a ground loop in one channel does not disturb the others. An isolated DC-DC module such as the Mornsun VRB or URB series turns the cabinet rail into a regulated, isolated rail for each module, and its protection keeps the module safe during a fault. The small SIP and DIP packages fit the dense rack, and the wide input range keeps the rail steady as the cabinet bus varies.

Wide Input for the Field

Field instruments and remote I/O are often powered over a long cable, so the supply they see varies with the load and the cable drop. A wide-input module such as the URB2405YMD-6WR3, with its 4:1 input range, holds a regulated output across that variation, which keeps the measurement accurate and the logic reliable. A fixed-input module is a simpler, lower-cost choice where the rail is well controlled.

The Cabinet Bus

The heart of the cabinet power is the system bus, usually 24 V, provided by a DIN-rail AC-DC supply such as the Mornsun LIF series. The supply converts the mains into a regulated 24 V rail with reinforced isolation and protection, and the isolated DC-DC modules then generate the lower rails from it. A DIN-rail supply mounts on a standard rail and saves installation time, and its compact footprint and high efficiency suit a dense cabinet.

Protection and EMC

Industrial equipment must meet EMC and safety requirements, so the front-end design matters. Add a suitable fuse and surge protection at the AC input, follow the recommended input filter for conducted emissions, and keep the switching loops small. On the DC-DC side, keep the input and output capacitors close to the pins and use the recommended filtering. These disciplines are what make the power stage pass EMC and survive the plant transients.

Selection and Supply

Selection starts with the input range and the output rails, then narrows by power, isolation and package, choosing a DIN-rail AC-DC supply for the bus and isolated DC-DC modules for the field and channel rails. BeiLuo keeps mainstream Mornsun modules in regional stock, ships them with import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS documents, and supports selection, EMC and thermal design with an in-house FAE team. From a PLC rack to a field instrument, our engineers help you choose the power modules that keep the system reliable.
